Google Still Making Money From “Blog Links”
| Posted by: Eric Cho |
There’s been so much talk from Google about undervaluing links that are bought for the purpose of passing pagerank. And recently, there’s been even more discussions in regards to cracking down on sites who try to manipulate SERPs through blog links. Google might have covered up the obvious adwords for searches on “text link” but there’s still money made (for Google) with searches on “blog links” in their search results. Even more ads show up for “buy blog links“. So why promote these sites if you want us to stop using services like Sponsored Reviews & Pay Per Post?
I’m guessing it’ll be a matter of time before the adwords for “buy blog links” will also disappear (one would assume). But how long will they continue to milk that money from advertising companies? From these recent activities and updates, the push for a websites “natural growth” is becoming more important and we all need to lift our game when it comes to developing new sites.
I have a feeling that buying links related sites may be crawling back into the Google sandbox at some stage, (not to be pessimistic). Bottom line is, if we can’t buy links and if search engine algorithms are getting smarter in detecting them, why bother having these sites. Or maybe Google’s fairly optimistic and believe all the blogs will have the nofollow attribute.
Next big thing - link baiting services!
