Lead Generation: Is Old School Coming Back?

With the inception of the Internet came an entirely different idea of lead generation. Generating leads is the heart of business and when a company needs new clients they are quick to hop on the Internet express to increase page rank, establish back links and market their websites like crazy in order to create a positive flow of new potential customers or clients. But, as time passed, website visitors became more and more accustomed to these lead generation tactics and began to ignore the flashing banners and pop-up calls to action. Now, old school is all but forgotten and businesses are starting to see the beauty in the more basic of marketing techniques and lead generation.

Two or three years ago, a flier on a car was something that was rarely seen. But, over the last year, those fliers are becoming more and more commonplace. Why? People, or potential customers, have forgotten the methods of face to face marketing and lead generation which makes these old school techniques new and fresh.

Businesses are handing out business cards again, there are coupon books appearing all over offering discounts on services and special prices for first time customers. The Internet marketing tactics are calming down a bit and businesses are approaching their customers with an “in your face” style that is generating leads and sales faster than they ever thought possible.

While the trend may only last as long as the current financial crunch, there is something noble about old school marketing tactics and lead generation. No longer are businesses able to sit in front of a computer screen and order this article or that article for marketing purposes. Today, they have to get out there and beat the pavement and earn those leads like their predecessors.

This new form of old lead generation means businesses have to look for new associates that are more familiar with talking to the customer and less familiar with the computer marketing tasks that were utilized just a short time ago. There is a certain type of person that can drive a sale or convert a potential customer to an active customer.

If your company needs leads and new customers for increased sales and profitability and the Internet marketing choices are just not producing the way they did just 6 months ago. The financial strain on consumers today may be to blame and earning that next sale may mean more talking and less typing.
