Numbered Search Results and Other Custom Google Hacks

If you’ve ever tried checking rankings in the search engines, and find yourself counting down the list to see what number position you’re website is in, you’ll understand why I went searching for another way. Since I use Google the most, I first found a script from the guys at Added Bytes that numbers the Google search results like this:

But before you try to install the script, you’ll need to install GreaseMonkey first. This allows the script to run. The only problem is that it numbers the news results too, so there ends up being 11 listings on a page with Google News.

When I looked further I found CustomizeGoogle , a Firefox addon that not only numbers your Google results, but a bunch of other cool mods. My new favorite hack is called “Stream Google Search Results”, which basicly removes the “Next” link and keeps an endless list of results for as long as you want to scroll. Check it out below:
They’ve got 3 or 4 new features they recently added to Customize Google. You can read about it on their blog.
Either one of these Firefox addons will do the trick and number your Google search results, but I like CustomizeGoogle just because of the extra goodies it provides.
