Reviewing Ximmy.com Compared To Digg
| Posted by: Summer Banks |
The Internet horizon is one that keeps growing and growing. Our world bases that majority of their decisions and their research on the world wide web, so when yet another social bookmarking site tries to throw their towel into the ring of popularity, one must immediately compare that site to DIGG.
DIGG is one of the most popular social bookmarking site on the web. But, there are a few carefully placed flaws in the DIGG system for search engine marketers. DIGG is strict, real strict. And, if you are not careful, your login will be deleted quicker than ice cream melting on a hot summer’s day if the DIGG Gods feel you are using the site for self promoting purposes.
Thus, the introduction of new social bookmarking sites like, Ximmy, is actually a great thing for SEM. These sites are so new that they want as much content as possible to get the system rolling. Here in lies the beauty of new sites. You are often allowed to submit any links you want, at least until the site notices a huge SPAMMING problem and places some rules on the game.
Is Ximmy.com Worth the Trouble?
Will these links get the recognition similar to the links successfully placed on DIGG? Yes and no. At first, the Ximmy.com site may not be indexed as quickly as DIGG. The page views and unique visitors are simply not there to keep the bots coming back over and over again. But, patience and hard work will pay off as soon as the site starts to gain some followers.
Is Ximmy Friendly?
Upon first glance, the Ximmy.com site could have been smacked together by just about anyone who knows a little about web design. The site is simplistic, at best, there are no frills and no ads for revenue. (Yet another sign that the site is very new). After signing up for the website, the email verification form took 13 hours to reach my email. I was astounded. I could not utilize the site until I clicked on the security link in that email. A second test resulted in a longer 15 hour wait. Once a member of the site, submission is easy and follows the same guidelines as any other social bookmarking site.
Overall Thoughts of Ximmy?
The Ximmy.com site is new, sure, but link building is link building, right? With Ximmy.com it is simply a chance the SEM linker will have to take. The site may flourish and it may flounder, but if it jumps into popularity, all of the links you have placed on the site will certainly be worth the time.
